Bennett Architectural were appointed as the glazed façade contractor on the expansion and redevelopment of the Aldi UK HQ based in Atherstone, near Tamworth.
The fast-growing supermarket chain were named Employer of the Year 2017 by Grocer Gold, and their expansion to the Aldi UK HQ re-affirms their commitment to their staff.
The Bennett Architectural Design team had the challenge of replicating the design of the existing windows on buildings across the site.
To provide the correct aesthetics and suitable structural stability, we worked in close collaboration with our supply chain partners to find the perfect resolution which included working in partnership with Kawneer to develop new dyes.
Kawneer’s AA540 series windows were chosen specifically for this project, the AA543 tilt turn window in particular, and we then had the windows installed into a pre-cast concrete panel/brisk slip design façade.
In addition to the windows, there were three large atriums three storeys in height plus fully glazed sloped roofing areas.
The atriums were designed using Kawneer’s AA100 curtain walling and included self-cleaning glass to the roof areas, as well as actuated smoke vents and a full perimeter ‘Brise Soleil’ sun shading system.
