New Covent Garden Market has been shortlisted for the prestigious Architectural Design of the Year category of the London Construction Awards 2018.
This award will celebrate projects that have been designed in such a way, in order to be sympathetic to the environment & surroundings, functional for purpose, and innovative in style.
The market which opened last year, is the largest is wholesale fruit, vegetable, and flower market in the United Kingdom.
Bennett Architectural was appointed by VINCI Construction to provide a full vertical envelope façade system constructed from Kawneer’s AA110 curtain walling system.
Lionel Grant, Managing Director at Bennett Architectural commented,
“Two of the big challenges on New Covent Garden Market were meeting the thermal and solar gains presented. Meeting these requirements aided the client in achieving the overall performance of the structure.
“We’re delighted to hear that the architectural design of this project is being recognised by the judges of the London Construction Awards.”
The London Construction Awards 2018 take place on 23rd October at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington.
