Dumfries and Galloway Hospital has been named as a finalist for the prestigious Architects Journal Architecture Awards 2018 in the Health and Wellbeing Project of the Year category.

This category recognises new-build or significant refurbishment or extension project used for health & wellbeing, including hospitals, doctors’ surgeries, dentists and Maggie’s Centres completed between January 2017 and July 2018.

The £212 million project was the third DfMA project Bennett Architectural worked alongside Laing O’Rourke on, having already collaborated on the University Hospital of North Midlands and West Cumberland Hospital using off-site construction.

Lionel Grant, Managing Director at Bennett Architectural commented,

“It’s great to see another project our team worked on being recognised in the Architects Journal Architecture Awards.

“Our established knowledge and experience using off-site construction was certainly one of the reasons we were chosen to work on the project.”

All winners of the Architects Journal Architecture Awards will be revealed at an exclusive Gala Dinner at the Roundhouse in London on 4 December.

Dumfries & Galloway Hospital has been previously been short listed for the RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence, RIAS Awards and the MIPIM Awards.
