Aluminium glazing specialist Bennett Architectural have been chosen to work on the £60m development of Skelton Lake Services on Junction 45 of the M1 in Leeds.

The new services, located at the gateway to the Leeds Enterprise Zone will create more than 700 new jobs throughout its construction and operation.

Extra’s proposals include food court style facilities building, together with a business centre, fuel filling station and 100-bedroom hotel.

Bennetts will supply and install Kawneers doors, windows, curtain walling and brise soleil on the project, working with contractor Morgan Sindall and from designs from Architecture 519.

Lionel Grant, Managing Director at Bennett Architectural commented,

“This is an exciting and large-scale project for our team to be involved with.

“We have refined our installation of brise soleil on stunning projects at John Taylor Free School and Abcam Bio-Medical Campus in the past 12 months and have no doubt it will compliment the design of Skelton Lake Services.”

Morgan Sindall’s managing director for the North, Barry Roberts, added,

“We are really excited about working with Extra to deliver this phase of the project, realising the vision that has been set out by our customer.

“This is a major investment for the region and we will do everything we can to support and work closely with Extra to create jobs and offer opportunities to local people and companies during the construction works.”

Skelton Lake Services is set to open in Summer 2019, significantly improving road safety for this section of the M1 motorway.
