£2.2m school contracts joy for Bennett Architectural

Posted: 17 September 2010

Bennett Architectural has won school building contracts totalling £2.2 million.

Work is due to start shortly on three new education service buildings in Tameside, near Manchester, and a new dual site academy school at Tamworth.

The Landau Forte Academy, Tamworth, includes a school for 11 to 16 year old pupils and a sixth form centre on separate sites.

The design incorporates a solar controlled naturally vented window system and attractive glazed entrances to the buildings.

Bennett Architectural has been chosen to provide glazing solutions for the latest tranche of the Tameside Building Schools for the Future programme.

This includes the new Droylsden Academy, Hyde Technology College and the Globe Lane Learning Centre.

“We have been successful in designing products which will be energy efficient, keep buildings well ventilated and improve the learning environment for the pupils,” said Lionel Grant Managing Director of Bennett Architectural.

“The Government may have signalled the end of the BSF programme but there is still much work to be done in the education sector,” he added.

“We are proud of our ongoing work in the sector and are well placed to deliver high qualify refurbishment solutions for schools if the focus moves away from new build.”
